Jerusalem / Bethlehem

H.B., J.S.!

Today it’s (back) to the Shrine of the Book, and then we see the world-famous Marc Chagall stained glass windows.

Then we drive just a few miles down to Bethlehem to see the Church of the Nativity.

(I’ll look for a drugstore scale; I’d like to say I got
♫ A Weigh in a Manger [Square]. ♫

At the Church of the Nativity , the humble entrance humbles the entrants…if the moment itself does not.

This is the venerated place inside.  If Christ was indeed born here, I wonder if He agrees its silver and gold are ironic.  “Fear not… great joy… lying in a manger.”

Here’s more on this Bethlehem shrine.

 Another first-born is celebrated today

half a world away (and in my heart).

God bless you, J. Stuart.
